Ion Orchard celebrates Lunar New Year
An indoor spring garden plus festive activities are features of the Chinese New Year celebrations at Ion Orchard shopping centre in Singapore, which is also offering loyalty rewards for shoppers.
On display until February 22, the spring garden on the first level of the Atrium features more than 500 sculptures of festive flora such as cherry blossoms, chrysanthemums, peonies and dahlias.
While there is a pond with live fish, there is also an interactive digital Chinese scroll featuring golden koi. Customers can win Ion Orchard shopping vouchers by using Instagram to guessing the number of auspicious fish on the scroll.
Other features include a customised floral scent, a maze of Oriental-style wooden lattices, and a chance to check the outlook for the year ahead for each of the 12 zodiac signs.

January 8 to February 18: John Little Chinese New Year Fair.
January 25 to February 6: Lunar New Year Festive Market.
Saturdays and Sundays, January 16 to February 21: Roving Samfu Hunks and Cheongsam Dollies, plus free ice cream and froyo.
January 30 and 31, and February 5 and 6: Chinese drummers plus Fortune God flash mobs.
February 8 and 9, and 12 and 13: Lion dance performances.
With a focus on red, limited-edition pieces are available for shoppers from such brands as Diane Von Furstenberg, DKNY, Harry Winston, Mikimoto, Moncler, Monica Vinader, Saint Laurent and Tiffany & Co.
Other limited-edition exclusive specials include a Harry Winston Monkey automatic watch, a Saint Laurent tassel satchel in red crocodile embossed leather, and Mikimoto’s latest Ruyi Collection.
Shoppers have until February 22 to redeem festive goodies, starting with a minimum spend of $100. These include special Chinese New Year Ang Pow packets and a Mandarin orange carrier. Shoppers using the Ion Orchard mobile app can buy special fortune bags containing products from participating stores including Estee Lauder, Jeric Origins, Kiehl’s, Penhaligon’s, Shu Uemura and The Sloane Clinic.
In a joint promotion with UnionPay until February 29, tourists spending $1000 with a UnionPay card will receive a $50 Ion Orchard shopping voucher. A spend of $5000 entitles them to a complimentary limousine airport transfer.
Tourists who flash their passports at the Singapore Visitor Centre @ Ion Orchard will also receive a Tourist Wallet, which includes shopping and dining privileges.
As well as new retail and dining outlets, many have been refreshed at Ion Orchard. There are new-to-market brands Moncier and Monica Vinader, homegrown fashion label In Good Company, and beauty flagship stores Laneige and Origins. In the newly revamped B4 Food Hall there are new brands Mr. Churro and London Sandwich Co., as well as Ya Kun Kaya Toast and Teppei Syokudo.
