BeaconMi app introduces retail concept

A proximity-based mobile app that offers customer perks, BeaconMi introduces a new retail concept to Singapore.

Merging the online and offline world, the promotional and informative app BeaconMi offers in-store engagement. It works through iBeacon technology using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE),  which is light on battery use.

BeaconMi founder Leon Low says consumers have become bored with the lack of innovation in traditional retail. ”However, physical showrooms with tactile experiences are still attractive to the consumer if it is worth their time being there.”

Low says retailers need new ideas and consumers need more value.

Discounts and promotions can be offered through BeaconMi’s notification alert on the lock screen of users when they are within walking distance of the store. There is no need for them to open the app itself, but once in-store the users can turn on their apps to learn more about discounts, recommendations or stories about the merchandise or space.

BeaconMi encourages partnering merchants to be creative in coming up with fun surprises for users. All discounts and promotions are exclusive to users of BeaconMi, which is free to download.
