GoSpree app to support The Great Singapore Sale

A mobile phone app, GoSpree, will be launched to support The Great Singapore Sale (GSS), from June 9 to August 13.

It will act as a “super mall” platform, allowing customers to obtain e-coupons from different categories of retailers.
Available in English and Mandarin, the app enables shoppers a choice of discounts for designated stores. Retailers can also send e-coupons and flash deal-alerts to nearby shoppers.

Each GSS retailer will have their own QR code, which may be displayed around Singapore. Users can use the app’s code scanner to unlock special deals.

Users will also be able to browse a directory of participating retailers.

In conjunction with GSS, and running from May 26 to August 13 is the SPH Shop and Win Draw campaign. With a minimum spend, shoppers have a chance to win cars, lifestyle products, home appliances, vouchers and cash.
Prizes include a Dream Cruises five-night cruise for four in a dream suite worth S$10,794 (US$7740), a Winbot cleaning robot worth $899 and Junghans Max Bill automatic watches worth $1570.

Three winners will be picked from draws one to eight to each receive $500 worth of Metro shopping credits. To double their chances of winning, shoppers can charge their purchases to a UnionPay card.

Prizes will be given out through nine draws, culminating in the grand draw for two cars, a Subaru and a Nissan, on August 19.

To be launched on the first day of the nine-week sale, the free app can be downloaded via the Apple Store and Google Play store.

Singapore Retailers Association (SRA) executive director Rose Tong says the event can help smaller, independent retailers target new customers and gain publicity at no cost. Retailers are not charged to list their offerings on the app.

Already on board are design and lifestyle store Naiise, furniture and electrical giant Courts, department store Takashimaya and the Millenia Walk mall.

There are plans for the app’s use beyond this GSS.
